Hey Henry,

I finally got around to listening to a podcast - this one. All good (well, mostly except for your belief, totally mistaken in my opinion, that re-incarnation/re-birth is not a reality - we could debate that..)

BUT THEN I got to about 52 mins and realised.....drum roll.....YOU'RE A FLAT EARTHER!!!! Oh no!!!

OH NO!!! Say it isn't so!

Cheers!

Ian

PS I went to Antartica, about 4 years ago. Let me tell you, I did not fall off the edge of the earth. Nor did I see any guards warning people away; no signs saying CAREFUL!! WATCH YOUR STEP. THIS IS THE END OF THE EARTH!!

Henry, do yourself a favour & return to Eastern religions - Buddhism, Hinduism and get back on track.

PPS The Bible is a magnificent work that can be understood at 7 levels. Sadly, it appears you're stuck on level 1...the literal one. Start digging deeper!

Thank you for your interest and feedback. Believe what you will. When people go to Disney World, it is not a world, and likewise, when people go to the Antarctic presentation, that is a fantasy world you are being dropped off at. You cannot leave the park.

Henry, you're a decent man searching for the truth and I respect that. We're currently in a world of illusion, ignorance, greed & selfishness (it's known by the Hindu religion as the Kali Yuga - the Age of ignorance where mankind in general turns away from God our Creator - but I'm sure you already know this from your previous study of Eastern religions).

So we're reading the same book, if not on the same page and anyone who acknowledges the Creator as the source of everything that was, is & ever will be, has, as I said, my respect.

Leaving aside the 'flat earth' question, let me ask you a question, if I may, that relates to re-birth - that you refute

But first let me state my premise:

My strongly held belief (and I've had 2 obe's and a nde that, at least partially, confirm this belief for me at least) is fairly simple:

1. God created all things and human beings contain a spark of our Creator (Soul or Spirit) I won't go down the rabbit hole of 'Fallen Angels'.

2. He also gave us free will but also responsibility for our actions (of thought, word, deed)

3. The result of those actions have consequences - some call it Karma. It's a spiritual Law & inviolable - except under Grace (of which I know nothing except that there is such a concept).

4. Those consequences result in our present situation, and they are totally just & in perfect accordance with past actions.

5. Our present actions (and one can ONLY act in the present moment, as you inferred in your podcast) will lead to future our circumstances which will again be Perfect for each individual... and not only individuals but each Nation, the World & our part in the Universe. Everything. The complexity is at once amazing, yet beautiful in its simplicity.

6. God, in His mercy and acknowledging our weakness, gives us unlimited opportunities for right action (another rabbit hole) and our Soul or Spirit is thus re-born into a different body at a different time & place, but the circumstances are always PERFECTLY in accordance with our previous actions.

We both believe in God and my beliefs, as stated explain the absolute justice & appropriateness of this world & the circumstances in which we live - in essence, there are no accidents in the Universe. We return time & time & time again to eventually achieve complete Union with God who created us. Like the Prodigal Son, we return to the Father.

Now - at last :) - my question: How do you explain the apparently (often) unfair, unjust cruel circumstances of birth? One baby is born into plenty with everything perfect for development, growth & happiness: another into abject squalor & poverty with only disease & imminent death to look forward to. How could a just God allow such haphazard unfairness? Of course, it also applies to every circumstance of life; one person gets terminal cancer aged 40, another lives to a ripe old age. Where's the justice?

Thanks!

Ian W

PS Please don't ask me to read a book or listen to a podcast for an hour. A succinct few sentences or paras. explaining your position will be appreciated.

PPS Several other rabbit holes I'll steer away from.. time is one. As you mentioned in your podcast, in fact there is no past or future - only the present moment and rather than being linear, time is more of a spiral and (not just) in theory, one can hop in & out as necessary - spiritual necessity rather than just to 'ave a look...

PPPS..yes I know.... The Bible, while being a magnificent book of knowledge was essentially changed by all the Popes at the time, under Constantine (can't recall the name of the event at present). Basically, they took out of the Bible many important things including all reference to re-birth. This was to put man (small m) -ie themselves between the laity & God - the idea being that ordinary people needed the priests to act on their behalf....rubbish of course but continues to this day, only have to go to the Vatican to see it in action.

They somehow missed the Gospel of St Thomas (found at the time of the Dead Sea Scrolls?) and that I think does contain references to re-birth. My copy was borrowed so I can't quote it right now.

The simple answer to your question is we must use free will to improve our situation, no matter our creative novel starting point, no one else but us can do this materially. We are in control of our reactions and actions that is all. Choose wisely.

Found it.. they left out lots of stuff that interfered with their power & authority. Nothing has changed...

"The Council of Nicaea, which took place in 325 CE, was a significant event in the history of Christianity. One of the most important outcomes of this council was the formation of the Biblical canon - a collection of sacred texts that were recognized as authoritative and inspired by God.

Prior to the Council of Nicaea, there was no clear consensus on which texts should be included in the Bible. Different communities had their own collections of sacred writings, and there was much debate and disagreement about which texts were truly inspired by God.

The Council of Nicaea was convened by the Roman Emperor Constantine, who was concerned about the growing division within the Christian church. The council brought together bishops from across the Roman Empire to discuss theological and doctrinal issues, including the question of which texts should be included in the Bible.

After much debate, the council agreed on a list of texts that would be recognized as canonical. This list included the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), the Acts of the Apostles, the letters of Paul, and several other books that were considered to be authoritative and inspired by God.

I will be poating my podcast here about the infalibility of the bible soon. The punch line is, the bible is manipulated, furtheremore now the bible is changing because of the mendala effect and the point of tge bible was to instruct, then you must push away to be free. Hold on to the essence and be practicle.
